Black and White

Iceland in Black and White

These images are the first that I am showing from a recent trip to Iceland and include some nature, landscapes, people and urban examples.

Yosemite National Park

I have been to San Francisco many times for high tech business meetings and conferences, and never made the drive to Yosemite. This year I did and managed to get one full day and two half days of of shooting in. In addition to the shooting, I was beta testing a new version of PhotoWalkIdeas with a new ‘Guided Tour’ feature that used Maps to guide me to the locations that I wanted for my shots.

Bruce Wilson Competition

The RA Photo Club runs an annual competition for Black and White prints, and this year my entry using photos from Iceland came in second. I was pleased.

I flipped a coin between a set from Iceland, and one from Argentina. Next year might be Argentina.

Iceland in Black and White

Iceland is an amazing country, and my enthusiasm shows through in the number of times I have travelled there. What amazes me is the number of different ways there are to photograph it. Here are some of my favourite black and white images from this trip.

Patagonian Gauchos in Black and White

One of the highlights for me of an annual trip to Tecka ranch in Argentina is the cattle drive where new calves are branded. The approach and techniques used during this event have probably not changes significantly in the last 100 or more years.

The RA Photo Club runs an annual year end competition for black and white prints named in honour of long time member Bruce Wilson. I took some time this year to select and prepare prints for the competition, however I lost the battle with my printer and was unable to enter, however I thought I would share the image here anyway.
