During the tour with Portfolios In A Week we visited churches in both the cities and the country.
The city churches all drew architectural inspiration from Iceland's amazing features. The exteriors were based on the basalt cliffs, while the inside look like the ice caves.
The country churches largely followed the same plan varying the colour schemes and the number of windows. Some of the secret stops with Axel and IamIceland.is included some wonderfully carved doors and interiors.
Our visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre happen to fall on the Easter Sunday for the Orthodox Church. The church was so full of people, that most images were not possible. However, all the services made use of incense, and rising to the oculus gave a wonderful smoke that is in this image.
